[PRESS RELEASE] Krungsri and BDMS Win 2026 ASEAN Enterprise Innovation Award for Core Banking Modernisation and AI-Driven Clinical Review
Bangkok, 26 August 2026 - From 32 nominations in 2017 to 122 this year, the annual ASEAN Innovation Business Platform (AIBP) Enterprise Innovation Awards recognises Southeast Asian organisations successfully adopting innovative technology to digitally transform their businesses.
Thailand's digital economy is forecast to reach THB 5.7 trillion in 2026, growing at roughly 2.2 times the pace of the wider economy, according to projections from the National Board of Digital Economy and Society Office (BDE) under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. Digital exports rose 45 per cent in the first half of 2026, driven by global demand for AI hardware and continued private investment in data centre and cloud capacity.
Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) emerged as the winners from Thailand for the Open and Data & AI categories respectively, and received their awards at the 55th AIBP Conference and Exhibition, held on 2 and 3 September 2026 at W Hotel Bangkok. The event endorsed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES).
Founded in 1945, Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited (Krungsri) is Thailand's fifth largest bank by assets, loans and deposits, employs approximately 33,000 people and has a market capitalisation of around US$6.5 billion (approximately THB 211 billion) as of August 2026. Krungsri was recognised for Enterprise API Rationalization and Dynamic Interface Inventory, delivered under its Jupiter core banking transformation programme. The bank consolidated 111 redundant interfaces in its customer inquiry domain into three standardised APIs, supported by a near real-time data offload architecture, and built a centralised interface inventory application that dynamically visualises enterprise-wide system connections. Krungsri reports an 80 per cent improvement in customer data inquiry response times, a 65 per cent reduction in data payload size and an 18 per cent reduction in mainframe workload, while avoiding ongoing development and maintenance costs.

Founded in 1969, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited (BDMS) is Thailand's largest private healthcare group by patient service revenue and market capitalisation, operating hospitals under six brands, employing approximately 37,000 people and carrying a market capitalisation of around US$9.6 billion (approximately THB 308 billion) as of August 2026. BDMS was recognised for BDMS Utilization Review Technology (BURT), which combines Thai-language natural language processing, clinical decision algorithms, deep learning and large language model capabilities to assess medical necessity, improve documentation quality and support timely, evidence-based utilisation decisions. BDMS reports that BURT has been deployed across 35 hospitals, has supported over 765,000 cases at 98 per cent accuracy and has reduced review time by 90 per cent. The system has also identified over 10,000 high-risk medication cases and reduced paper use by a volume BDMS equates to planting 23,000 trees.

Krungsri and BDMS join the list of past winners from Thailand, including AXONS, PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), Big C and Osotspa, alongside regional winners across Southeast Asia including Maybank, Tenaga Nasional, Bank Central Asia, Bank Mandiri, the Bank of the Philippine Islands and Techcombank.
