[PRESS RELEASE] Bank BTN and Bank Mandiri Win 2026 ASEAN Enterprise Innovation Award for Digital Housing Ecosystem and Predictive Customer Intelligence
Jakarta, 26 August 2026- From 32 nominations in 2017 to 122 this year, the annual ASEAN Innovation Business Platform (AIBP) Enterprise Innovation Awards recognises Southeast Asian organisations successfully adopting innovative technology to digitally transform their businesses.
More than half of this year's submissions featured artificial intelligence or machine learning, with a shift towards predictive and autonomous systems that act on data rather than simply report it. Indonesia is building for that shift at national scale. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs projects the national digital economy to exceed US$100 billion in 2026 and to reach between US$220 billion and US$360 billion by 2030, positioning Indonesia as the largest digital economy in Asia, and reports 185 data centres in operation with combined capacity of 274 MW against a target exceeding 2,000 MW by 2029.
PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) and PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk emerged as the winners from Indonesia for the Open and Data & AI categories respectively, and received their awards at the AIBP Conference and Exhibition, held on 26 and 27 August 2026, at Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta.
Endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (CMEA), the event spotlighted advancements in Indonesia's digital landscape while addressing the challenges faced by local enterprises and public service organisations in adopting digital transformation. The Coordinating Ministry has identified digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and digital talent as the country's new engines of economic growth.

BTN's winning project, balé by BTN, repositions the bank from mortgage provider to orchestrator of a digital home ecosystem, extending beyond financing into property search, virtual tours, renovation services and digital document management, with the BTN Mobile application rebuilt as a super-app to carry the ecosystem to customers. AI-driven underwriting reduced mortgage approval turnaround from an average of five days to under 24 hours for eligible segments, while the bank reports digital fee-based income rising 22.5% to IDR 1.45 trillion and balé facilitating over IDR 2.1 trillion in property-related transaction value. Tracing its origins to 1897 and operating under its present name since 1963, BTN is Indonesia's largest mortgage lender, employing approximately 13,300 people and carrying a market capitalisation of around US$960 million (~IDR 17 trillion) as of August 2026.
"Winning the 2026 AIBP Enterprise Innovation Award is a proud milestone in BTN's digital transformation. Through balé by BTN, we are moving beyond traditional mortgage financing to orchestrate an integrated, customer-centric housing ecosystem. This recognition reinforces our commitment to delivering accessible, data-driven, and seamless digital financial services for millions of Indonesians," said Joko Christianto, Division Head of IT Strategic Planning Division, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk.
Bank Mandiri's winning project, its Customer Data Platform, consolidates transactions, service interactions, digital behaviour and demographic data from across internal systems into unified 360-degree customer profiles, feeding real-time personalisation directly into the Livin' by Mandiri application. Predictive analytics allow the bank to anticipate customer needs, including loan pre-approvals and investment opportunities, before customers actively seek them, shifting engagement from reactive to pre-emptive. The platform was designed, built and deployed entirely in-house, with model development running on a dedicated machine learning environment, and the bank reports a revenue contribution exceeding IDR 73 billion in 2025. Established in 1998, Bank Mandiri is Indonesia's largest bank by assets, employing approximately 38,700 people and carrying a market capitalisation of around US$21 billion (~IDR 383 trillion) as of August 2026.
"We are honoured to receive this recognition from AIBP for Bank Mandiri's Customer Data Platform as the winner of the Data & AI Category. This achievement reflects our commitment to harnessing the power of data and AI to drive innovation, create more personalised experiences, and deliver greater value to our customers," said Brikson Hara Donald Barus, Department Head of AI Development, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk.
BTN and Bank Mandiri join the list of illustrious past Indonesian winners, including Pertamina, Kalbe Farma, Bank Central Asia and Astra International, among others.
