Ransomware Threatens Data Security in Indonesia

The threat of ransomware continues to rise significantly in Indonesia, endangering data security as well as the integrity of both companies and individuals. These cyberattacks have become an urgent issue that needs to be addressed by all sectors of society, including the government, the private sector, and the general public.

According to Denny Pribadi, Head of the Informatics Study Programme at the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, Bina Sarana Informatika University (BSI), Sukabumi campus, ransomware is a type of malware that encrypts victims’ data, rendering it inaccessible until a ransom is paid.
