Insights from Indonesia’s Cybersecurity Leaders

“One of the biggest attacks that we have been facing is a DDoS attack. This is big, because we cannot do anything and our service is not accessible to citizens. So the immediate response that we have taken is to make a separate configuration so that the system can be accessed by citizens. But in the future, we have to look at how to build a secure and robust network or robust infrastructure to make sure that the DDoS attack can be mitigated.”

“For detecting threats or attacks, we have some devices that use behavior analysis. In our organization, we haven’t implement AI or machine learning for mitigating the attack or preventing the attack. We plan to use it in near future because I think it's mandatory for us also to use that kind of technologies.”

“Hyperconnectivity is becoming a potential threat. Because we're using so many devices to access our servers, information in our office, and not all this device are protected. That is why once a device has been compromised, it affects other devices, and with this hybrid connectivity, it is now becoming a national security...We are managing alot of critical infrastructure as part of the financial service industries, and a lot of this critical infrastructure is connected to one another, which makes this challenge very big.”
