[PRESS RELEASE] Bank Mandiri and Bank Central Asia Recognised at 2025 ASEAN Enterprise Innovation Award showcasing SME Digital Empowerment and AI-Powered Risk Management
Jakarta, 20 August 2025- From 32 nominations in 2017 to 115 this year, the annual ASEAN Innovation Business Platform (AIBP) Enterprise Innovation Awards recognises Southeast Asian organisations successfully adopting innovative technology to digitally transform their businesses. Out of this year's submissions, 74 nominations were shortlisted as finalists.
Notably, close to 50% of nominations featured artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) initiatives. Southeast Asia is swiftly emerging as an AI powerhouse, with over US$30 billion invested in regional AI infrastructure in the first half of 2024 alone, driving governments and enterprises to rapidly expand data centres and innovation labs. Falling AI deployment costs and rapid technological advancements are lowering barriers, particularly for SMEs, accelerating AI adoption across sectors like financial services, energy, and manufacturing, and positioning ASEAN as a leading innovation hub in the Intelligent Age.
PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (Bank Mandiri) and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) emerged as the winners from Indonesia for the Open and Data & AI category respectively, and received their awards at the AIBP Conference and Exhibition, held on 20 -21 August, at the Mövenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre.
Endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (KOMDIGI), the event spotlighted advancements in Indonesia’s digital landscape while addressing the challenges faced by local enterprises and public service organisations in adopting digital transformation.
Bank Mandiri’s Livin’ Merchant platform supports over 2.7 million MSMEs in Indonesia, providing integrated payments, real-time transaction monitoring, and sales and revenue reports that help manage and monitor business cash flow, boost customer engagement, and compete in a digital economy. The initiative aligns with the bank’s digital transformation and national financial inclusion goals. Founded in 1998, Bank Mandiri employs approximately 39,000 staff and has a market capitalisation of around US $28.2 billion (~IDR 450 trillion) as of August 2025.
BCA has deployed AI-powered fraud detection systems capable of real-time analysis, cutting false positives and enabling quicker, more accurate identification of risks. These tools enhance operational efficiency, customer trust, and financial security, with AI also used for personalised banking experiences. Founded in 1957, BCA, employs more than 50,000 people and boasting a market capitalisation of approximately US $66.6 billion (~ IDR 1,100 trillion).
